This computer monitor seems to be closely related to the PVM-1390 monitor and the KV-1311CR TV set, sharing most
of their body panels and, probably, electronics. The KV-1311CR features a TV tuner, as well as related controls, while the KX-14CP1 traded the 25-pins CMPTR RGB input for a SCART RGB input. Each screen also features a Digital RGB input through a EIAJ 8 port, while the PVM-1390 also sports an Y/C input.
All of the picture controls and inputs are located on the right side of the screen, leaving the back bare, except for the power cord.
This monitor was marketed primarily as a computer display, and was often featured in Sony's Hit-Bit range of MSX computers in printed ads.To accommodate being put on a desk instead of a TV stand, the screen is slightly angled backward. A pair of riser feet were provided to align the screen vertically, but are often missing.
